内容摘要Abstract:

Electric and hybrid vehicles are making their way in the automobile industry and electric motors are replacing combustion engines. PMSM are promising candidates for this application due to their high torque density and superior performance. However, these machines suffer from inverter saturation problems at high speed. These machines need to be designed with high R/X ratios to enable their required flux weakening for these applications.

A recently developed technique of winding switching proposed a promising solution for this problem and make these machine designs free from high R/X values and reduce the size of the machines. In this technique, the winding of the machine is split into two windings and these windings are operated in additive as well as subtractive flux configurations to operate the machines initially at low speed and high torque, and at high speed and low torque after the machines achieve their base speeds. Dual inverter is used to operate theses machines. Machines can be operated in various high speeds configurations and may be utilized in other applications as well that require very high speed compared to the base speed of the machines. Also, as no negative d-axis current is applied in this technique.
