个人简介:

Dr. Fangying Wang is an Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham. She is engaged in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and is working in the Centre for Structural Engineering & Informatics Research Group. She joined the university in July 2020. Prior to that, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at Nanyang Technological University. She obtained her BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Tongji University in 2014. Afterwards, she was awarded the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship to pursue her PhD in Structural Engineering at the University of Hong Kong and obtained the degree in 2018. She was a visiting PhD student at Imperial College London from 2017 to 2018.

Her principal research contributions lie in the areas of laboratory testing, numerical modelling and the assessment and development of design guidelines for steel tubular structures and concrete-steel structures. In particular, she is supervising 8 PhD students on various domains of structural engineering including, but not limited to, concrete-filled steel tubular members and connections, recycled concrete-filled tubular structures, local and global stability of stainless-steel tubular structures, high strength steel open section structures and machine-learning based design approaches in structural engineering. She sits on the organising committee for various international conferences and chaired UKacm 2022. She is an associate editor for Frontiers in Materials (Structural Materials), and has been awarded with outstanding reviewers for international journals. She is appointed as scientific committee in British Standard Institution (BSI) B/525/4- the UK input to CEN/TC 250/SC 4 Eurocode 1994 Design of composite steel and concrete structures and Eurocodes related documents. She is also actively leading/involved in a number of research projects on sustainable constructions with composite structures by using green and recycled materials.

讲座内容简介:

In this presentation, Dr. Wang will present her recent research topics and research programme undertaken by her PhD students. Then, a virtual lab tour at University of Nottingham, UK will be shown on the slides, introducing the main testing rigs and facilities. Opportunities of PhD exchange and funding opportunities will be also introduced with some successful examples of current exchange PhD students and their lives at Nottingham, UK. Visiting academic scholar programme will also be introduced in the end.
