AFTER successfully completing its mission safeguarding network security during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ)’s QI-ANXIN data security research institute will continue serving the Beijing Paralympic Winter Games that will open Friday.
More cyberattacks plagued recent Olympic Games, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported. A huge amount of data was leaked during the Rio Olympics in 2016, and the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 recorded nearly 450 million cyberattacks.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics had three competition zones and 26 venues, which presented high requirements for data protection work.
Given this, HITSZ’s QI-ANXIN data security research institute developed a platform to offer an “insurance” to the Games’ data.
The platform supports a centralized and unified management of keys of more than 50 information systems. At the same time, it can meet high security requirements, adapt to highly complex environments, and achieve close cooperation between cryptographic technology and network security.
The research result also became the first data security project launched in the history of Winter Olympic Games, according to the Daily.
HITSZ professors, including Fang Binxing, Liu Chuanyi and Han Peiyi, formed a team to ensure data security during the Beijing 2022.
