内容摘要Abstract:

In this talk, we overview our recent works on modern computational methodsfor the approximate solution of phase-field problems. The main difficulty fordeveloping a numerical method for phase field equations is a severe stability restrictionon the time step due to nonlinearity and high order differential terms. It is knownthat the phase field models satisfy a nonlinear stability relationship called gradient stability,usually expressed as a time-decreasing free-energy functional. This propertyhas been used recently to derive numerical schemes that inherit the gradient stability.We will discuss implicit-explicit time discretization methods which satisfy the energy stability. A time-adaptive strategy will be presented for solving the phase-field problems. Several numerical results will be given to demonstrate theefficiency and reliability of the proposed numerical methods.

 

个人简介(About the speaker):

乔中华博士于2006年在香港浸会大学获得博士学位,现任香港理工大学应用数学系副教授,在2011年12月加入香港理工大学之前,乔博士于2008年8月至2011年12月在香港浸会大学数学系任职助理教授,于2006年7月在美国北卡莱罗纳州立大学科学工程计算研究中心从事博士后研究。乔博士主要从事数值微分方程方面算法设计及分析,近年来研究工作集中在相场方程的数值模拟及计算流体力学的高效算法。在该专业领域的高水平杂志SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, Mathematics of Computation, Numerische Mathematik, Journal of Differential Equations, Journal of Scientific Computing 等学术刊物上发表论文40余篇。文章合计被引用300余次。他于2013年获香港研究资助局颁发2013至2014年度杰出青年学者奖。
