Laser spectroscopy provides many possibilities for multi-disciplinary applications in environmental monitoring, biomedicine, and energy research. Ultrasensitive and reliable trace gas sensors are required in environmental science to measure air pollutants, as well as in biomedical research to identify biomarkers related to particular diseases and metabolic disorders. Non-intrusive gas sensors are required in combustion systems to monitor key species in processes to understand the combustion fundamentals or to ensure safety and efficiency. This talk reviews our recent innovations in laser spectroscopic techniques with a multiscale and multidimensional span from absorption to dispersion, photoacoustics to photothermal, and free-space to waveguide. 

简历：

任伟，博士，香港中文大学机械与自动化工程学系助理教授, 激光诊断与燃烧能源实验室负责人。2006、2008年分别于清华大学精密仪器系获得学士及硕士学位，2013年获得斯坦福大学机械工程系博士学位，之后在美国莱斯大学电子与计算机工程系从事一年博士后研究。目前研究方向包括光传感技术、燃烧诊断以及化学反应动力学，主持国家自然科学基金项目2项，香港研究资助局基础研究项目3项，香港创新科技署研究项目2项，在相关领域发表SCI论文50余篇、申请美国专利2项。任伟教授为香港中文大学工程学院2016年模范教学奖获得者，目前为Springer期刊Applied Physics B副主编。
