内容摘要Abstract:

Plasma-sheet bubbles are low-entropy flux tubes that move very fast in the earthward direction due to the magnetic tension force. Bubbles are believed as the theoretic picture of burstybulk flows (BBFs). Extensive studies have been carried out since their discovery in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Now bubbles or BBFs are considered as key elements in plasma sheet transport,which revises the quasi-static large-scale convection transport picture of the magnetosphere. In this talk, I will review several aspects of bubbles, including their characteristics, ionospheric manifestation and accumulative effects during geomagnetic storms. Our most recent work on bubble-induced buoyancy waves will also be discussed.

个人简介 About the speaker:

报告人简介:杨剑博士于2005年在北京大学获得空间物理学士学位;2009年获美国莱斯大学(Rice University)博士学位。之后继续留在莱斯大学物理与天文系从事博士后研究。自2011年起担任研究科学家,主持和参与美国国家科学基金会和美国航空航天局多个科研项目。2018年入选第十四批“高层次人才计划”青年项目。2018年7月任南方科技大学副教授,美国莱斯大学物理与天文系兼职副教授。在GRL和JGR等上共发表论文23篇,其中包括第一作者文章14篇;学术著作章节1章;另外在各类学术会议和多个学术机构报告60多次。2013年获得JGR-Space Physics的优秀审稿人奖。主要研究方向为地球和行星磁层的数值模拟。
