In this talk, the speaker, as Editor-in-Chief of several journals, will share valuable insights on publishing papers. The focus will be on the paper handling and reviewing processes, aiming to help authors minimize desk rejection. Additionally, key considerations for authors and best practices for reviewing papers, joint authorship, and the use of AI tools will be emphasized. Attendees can expect to gain practical tips to enhance their publishing success.

个人简介(About the speaker):

Professor James Lam obtained his BSc (1st Hons.) degree from the University of Manchester before pursuing MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge. He is a Croucher Scholar, Croucher Fellow, Distinguished Visiting Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and Cheung Kong Chair Professor. Before joining the University of Hong Kong in 1993, where he currently holds the position of Chair Professor of Control Engineering, Professor Lam was a faculty member at the City University of Hong Kong and the University of Melbourne. Professor Lam is a Chartered Mathematician (CMath), Chartered Scientist (CSci), Chartered Engineer (CEng), Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (FIEEE), Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications (FIMA), Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE), Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (FAAIA), Distinguished Fellow of the International Engineering and Technology  Institute (DFIETI), Academician of International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences (IASCYS), and Member of Academia Europaea (MAE). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of IET Control Theory and Applications, Journal of The Franklin Institute, Proc. IMechE Part I: Journal of Systems and Control Engineering, Franklin Open, and IET Journal of Engineering. Professor Lam's research interests include multi-agent systems, positive systems, Boolean networks, networked control systems, and vibration control. His Web of Science H-index is 108, and Scopus H-index is 112. He is a Highly Cited Researcher.
