内容摘要Abstract:
In this talk, an overview on global, local, quasi, residue, integration, and AI-based meshless computational methods via the use of radial basis function (RBF) and piecewise polynomials will be presented. The main idea of the integration-based meshless computational method, Finite Integration Method (FIM), is to transform the original partial differential equation into an equivalent integral equation whose approximation can be sought by standard numerical integration techniques. Due to the advantages of unconditional stability of numerical integration and higher convergence rate of polynomial interpolation, the FIM method can solve boundary value problem under irregular domain with various kinds of stiffness. Recently, the FIM was combined with AI techniques to solve multi-dimensional problems such as 2D financial option pricing and 3D medical imaging.
个人简介(About the speaker):
Professor Benny Hon Yiu Chung is currently an adjunct professor at the Department of Mathematics of City University of Hong Kong and a visiting professor at the Department of Psychology of the University of Science and Technology of China. He has been ranked among the World’s Top 2% of Most-cited Scientists based on his more than 165 research journal papers on mathematics. His educational research involves the identification of mathematically gifted children using a modified Theory of Multiple Intelligences and the development of effective STEM mathematics education programmes for gifted and talented students. In 2019, he received the first Gifted Education Fund (No. GEF 2019-004) by the Education Bureau to organise the Advanced Talent Education Programme for Gifted Students in Hong Kong.
