内容摘要Abstract： 

Invariant Polynomials are studied in classical invariant theory and they play an important role in finite dimensional representation theory. Invariant generalized functions play a similar role in infinite dimensional representation theory of Lie groups. Starting with the basic case of homogeneous polynomials on the line, we will explain some examples of applications of invariant generalized functions to representation theory.

个人简介(About the speaker):

孙斌勇，2005年获得香港科技大学博士学位，现为中国科学院数学与系统科学研究院研究员，博士生导师。2012年入选中组部首届“青年拔尖人才计划”，2014年获得陈嘉庚青年科学奖和数理科学奖，2015年获得国家杰出青年科学基金。长期从事李群表示论和Langlands纲领的研究，解决了典型群无穷维表示论中的一系列重要问题。
